Caesar showers gold coins, or is that silver?

In response to the article "Wicks promises $2.7 million for road repairs" (30 May 2016), is anybody actually influenced by this transparent electoral generosity?

Why would this need for taxpayer largesse suddenly become apparent on election eve, when it has apparently escaped Ms Wicks' attention for the whole of her term up to date?

Ms Wicks clearly regards us as gullible children who can be cozened by the handing out of a few sweeties from the public purse, so that we'll behave decorously on polling day.

This bestowing of benefits on deserving communities (read, uncertain electorates) is such a feature of politicking that it is taken for granted, but it is actually a disgraceful insult to the citizenry who, apparently in the minds of our representatives, can only be brought to heel by petty bribery (accompanied by a suitable photo opportunity).

Of course, what I am particularly annoyed about is that Ms Wicks has chosen to spread her political fertilizer in Ryans Rd, instead of in Mackenzie Ave where I live.

She has certainly lost my vote, and I wonder how many other Peninsula residents will feel hard done by on July 2 at missing out on Caesar's showering of gold coins (or should it be 30 pieces of silver).
