Teenager releases CD in London
A teenager raised in Umina is about to release a CD after moving to London to pursue a music career.
The 19-year-old soul singer Lucy Darnley, also known as Kya, has just completed her second video clip for a song called Pricey that was written and produced by Boom Kala Lee and shot on location in London.
Ms Darnley attended Ettalong Primary School and Ku-ring-gai Creative Arts High School.
At the age of 16, she sent a demo tape to a producer in London and flew over to spend time in the recording studio before she returned to Australia to complete her Higher School Certificate.
Ms Darnley said her music was influenced by artists such as Aretha Franklin, Joss Stone, Stevie Wonder and Motown.
