Woy Woy twice defeated in rugby union
Woy Woy's First Grade rugby union players were twice defeated as Ourimbah triumphed a convincing win over Woy Woy on Saturday, April 28, at Woy Woy Oval and Northlakes on Saturday, May 5, at Slade Park.
The visitors dominated from the start on Saturday, April 28.
After leading by 33 points to nil at the halftime break, the result was never in doubt.
"Woy Woy made a far better effort in the second half and limited Ourimbah to one converted try, but the result had already been cemented," said Central Coast Rugby League president Larry Thomson.
"Best for Ourimbah was number eight, Brett Marchant, who was able to cross for an astounding five tries.
"Others to play well were fellow loose forwards Bradd Sheridan and Clint Guyatt.
"Woy Woy gave it their all but did not get a chance in this match.
"Northlakes were very easy winners over Woy Woy at Slade Park the following Saturday.
"They ran in 11 tries to record 71 points to three victories.
"Northlakes were always totally in control and Woy Woy had no answer to the home side's attacking skills."
"Northlakes have had a good couple of weeks and wins have put them in the top half of the competition ladder.
"On the other hand, it has been a dreadful start to the season for Woy Woy but they will work hard to overcome their early season difficulties," Mr Thomson added.
