Surf club holds Rainbow Beaches event

Umina Surf Life Saving Club held a Rainbow Beaches event on Sunday, February 19.

Organisers said it was "a day to celebrate diversity and inclusion, and show that it is the key to strong, vibrant environments and communities".

"The Rainbow Beaches event embraces all forms of diversity - whether age, ability, race, religion culture, gender, or sexual preference - allowing everyone to feel welcome, which makes our environment and communities stronger and more resilient," said club president Mr Stephen Scahill.

"We'll have decorations on display, the Pride Rescue Board proudly on the water's edge, and colourful zinc painted across faces.

"We welcome all nippers, surf club members, beach goers and ocean enthusiasts to get on board and embrace the rainbow colours too."
