Council staff recommend $5000 for Koorana Cup
A recommendation has been made by council staff to tomorrow night's Central Coast Council meeting to provide a $5000 grant toward the cost of the Koorana Cup, run by the Aboriginal Education Consultative Group for the Woy Woy Peninsula.
The recommendation included the condition that "Council's 'Proudly supported by' logo is on all team shirts".
The Cup was held on Friday, August 4, and was estimated to have involved more than 300 local students.
In the same council report, other grant applications have been "not recommended for funding" on the basis that they fall foul of guidelines that prevent grants to "existing projects or programs that require additional funding".
No explanation is given in the staff report of how an event that has already been run is not regarded as an "existing project or program".
Also recommended was a grant to the Naughty Noodle Fun Haus for banner installation and fabrication at a cost of $4535.
