Charity day raises $5000 for hospital

Umina Beach Men's Bowling Club has raised about $5000 through its Ron Pursehouse Prostate Cancer Charity Day held on Thursday, June 22.

"We hold the annual charity Day, where we raise funds for Central Coast Health, enabling them to purchase valuable and modern day urological equipment for Gosford and Wyong Hospitals," said club secretary Mr Peter Springett.

"We were blessed with cool, but dry, weather for the bowls and the rain didn't come until we had played the last bowl.

"With about 70 people, we had a good turnout for this important event.

"There were lots of raffle prize and auction item winners, with Mr Scott Wilson from Richardson and Wrench performing his first live auction."

Mr Springett said the club was still receiving money, but the total should be about $5000, which he described as "sensational".
