The Bays brigade offers fire survival planning advice

The Bays Rural Fire Brigade will help local residents prepare for bush fire season from 10am to 3pm on Saturday, September 16.

It will discuss Bush Fire Survival Planning at Deepwater Plaza near outside Gloria Jeans, and also at The Bay Brigade fire station at 17 Wattle Crescent, where it will have a free barbecue.

"This an ideal opportunity to find out more about planning for your family and preparing for bush fires," said The Bays Community Group president Ms Carolina Schuiling.

"It's also a chance to learn about the new Fire Danger Rating System which has now been rolled out across NSW.

"Based on the seasonal outlook the local fire risk is high because of the amount of rain in past years creating high fuel loads in the area.

"We live in a bushfire prone area so the best way to survive, thrive and recover in the case of any event is for you and your family to prepare your property and create a bushfire survival plan."
