Volunteers wanted for Wednesday morning dunecare

Umina Community Group is seeking more volunteers for its Wednesday morning dunecare sessions.

The group's South St Dunecare volunteers have been removing the invasive vine Cape ivy (delairea odorata), a fast growing environmental weed that can form dense carpets on the ground and smother shrubs and trees.

It has been found on the dune between Trafalgar Ave and South St, and can readily spread via seeds or small fragments of roots and stems.

The group has advised anyone finding it in their garden to remove it.
