Students do 30 push-ups every lesson for a month

Year 10 students in both Male and Female Athlete classes at Brisbane Water Secondary College have participated in the nationwide Push-Up Challenge, over the last month.

"Students in both classes had to complete 3144 push-ups in 23 days," said campus principal Ms Rebecca Cooper.

"Every lesson students had to complete 30 push-ups."

Ms Cooper said that 3144 was the number of lives lost to suicide in Australia in 2021.

The Challenge helped "shine a light on the alarming prevalence of suicide in our country".

"All students were eager every lesson to complete the challenge as they all felt better physically, mentally, and socially, and were doing the challenge to raise awareness around prevention and early intervention of depression, anxiety, and suicide," she said.
