Australian film features at Pearl Beach movie matinee

The 2004 Australian film The Oyster Farmer will feature at a Sunday Movie Matinee at Pearl Beach Memorial Hall at 2pm on Sunday, July 23.

The film, set on the Hawkesbury River, is about a 24-year-old man who runs away and finds a job with eighth generation oyster farmers.

It is written and directed by Anna Reeves, produced by Anthony Buckley and Piers Tempest and stars Alex O'Laughlin and Diana Glenn.

Mr Buckley will attend the screening to "present the film and engage in conversation".

The afternoon is organised by the Pearl Beach Progress Association, with tickets at $20 including "a welcome drink" and refreshments.

Association publicity officer Ms Lynne Lillico said Mr Buckley has produced a number of award-winning films including Caddie in 1975, a winner of 14 awards, The Irishman, The Night The Prowler, The Killing of Angel Street, Kitty and the Bagman, and Bliss.

The film is not suitable for children under 15 years old.

Bookings may be made on 4344 2319 or through the association website at www.pearlbeachprogress.org.au.
