College features teacher profile in social media

Brisbane Water Secondary College has featured a profile of mathematics teacher Ms Lisa Waite on its social media page.

The profile describes Ms Waite as "a globe-trotter who's lived in Scotland, Jamaica, Netherlands, Cyprus, Italy, Wales and England but finally found her home in Australia for the last 16 years".

"She's a passionate and dedicated teacher who loves inspiring young minds to love maths just as much as she does," said principal Ms Rebecca Cooper.

"Ms Waite's career journey started as a chemical engineer in the nuclear industry with British Nuclear Fuels.

"She worked in high-level nuclear waste treatment and was responsible for decommissioning buildings before transitioning into teaching.

"She chose teaching as a career change as she wanted to experience a sea change.

"She enjoyed maths at school and soon discovered her love for teaching it.

"Her future plans are simple: to continue enjoying life just as it is."

Ms Waite was said to live by the principle "treat others as you would like to be treated".

"When she's not teaching, Ms Waite enjoys pottery and ceramics.

"She also loves roller skating, board games, and is a big NRL fan of the Rabbitohs.

"For her, success is all about having a balanced life, enjoying a bit of everything that life has to offer."
