Ettalong Uniting Church closes
The Uniting Church has closed its Ettalong Church, which has served the community of over 90 years.
A Closure Service for UCA Ettalong Congregation was held on Saturday, October 21.
Following the closure, the property will be leased.
"An offer to lease the Church and hall for five years has been submitted by a couple who plan to open a new church," the bulletin of the Ettalong and Umina Uniting Churches has reported.
"They have a family association with Greenhouse Church, which has leased the UCA Long Jetty property."
Income from the lease would be used to employ a Pastoral Care Worker and a Pastoral Care Youth and Family Worker for the development of a Friday Family Fun Night and support of a Thursday Playgroup (BeeBay).
A proposal to develop the property into a commercial and residential building, incorporating a chapel, became financially untenable with the advent of the Covid pandemic.
