Litter and debris removed from rocky foreshores

Litter and other debris have been removed from the rocky foreshores and beaches of Patonga and "the outer Hawkesbury River" by Clean4shore.

The clean-up group was joined by students from Erina High School.

"Timber debris high above the waterline, contained plastics, polystyrene and flood debris, required the students to complete plenty of rock-hopping to retrieve and deliver the collected items to the Clean4shore barge," said co-ordinator Mr Graham Johnston.

"Car tyres, masses of treated pine, plastic drums and buckets, oyster product and double sink and bulk plastic bottles and polystyrene pieces were collected.

"The beaches at Flint and Steel, Hallets and Hungry all were in good condition still having bulk timber debris from the 2020 floods.

"A good load in the barge returned to Patonga, with a healthy lunch for the students and 320 kilos delivered to Woy Woy tip."
