Early childhood educators meet up at St John's

Preschools from across the Peninsula have joined with St John the Baptist Catholic Primary School for an Educators Meet-Up and Morning.

"Our Step Into School shared learning morning welcomed early learning educators from centres across our community," said school principal Ms Nicole Davies.

"It was not only a great opportunity to connect, but to ease the transition to school for children.

"By sharing and discussing what's covered in Kindergarten and the latest approaches to learning at school, we looked for simple ways to align our language and frameworks that will support our littlies on their learning journeys.

"In this session we covered, what literacy is and what we can do to help early learners 'crack the code'.

"Then we explored the interconnectedness of mathematics and the importance of practical games and talking to explain our thinking."

The educators were shown the school's Welcome to Country and what happened in a Day in the Life of Kindy.

The participants were from St John the Baptist Early Learning Centre, Goodstart Early Learning Woy Woy, Booker Bay Preschool, Woy Woy Peninsula Community Childcare, Umina Child Care, Explore and Develop Umina Beach, and Parklands Community Preschool Kariong.

Ms Davies said the school hoped to host another similar session in the New Year.
