Bridge club has pairs competition on Easter Monday

Brisbane Water Bridge Club played its Easter Monday Pairs competition on April 11.

The Autumn Pairs red point event drew a good number of competitors vying for the ultimate prize.

In keeping with the new policy, separate sections were played for Under 50 Master Points and Unrestricted.

In the open section, 12 pairs were greeted with some very tricky boards which were difficult, in most cases, to bid to the highest level.

Due to the size of the field three boards were played each round, which required maximum concentration.

In the restricted section, the competition was conducted in a friendly, but exciting atmosphere.

Due to the small field, six boards were played in each round.

This reduced the number of movements and gave the players plenty of time to settle down.

Results of Monday Easter Pairs Open for Over 50 Masterpoints were:

1 Chris Williams, Janet Clarke 168.0 (62.22 per cent), 0.75 red points.

2 David Bowerman, Dasha Brandt 153.0 (56.67), 0.53.

3 Jaan Oitmaa, Sylvia Foster 152.0 (56.30), 0.38.
