Donation for non-profit community band

A non-profit community band that plays regularly on the Peninsula has received a donation of $2480 to support its work.

The Tempo Terrific band plays regular at Ettalong Baptist Church, Blue Wave Living in Woy Woy and at Peninsula Village in Umina, as well as at the Everglades Country Club.

Ettalong Diggers made the donation to fund its musical director's fees "so that they can continue to grow their musical skills and improve their performances for the local community".

Announcing the donation, Ettalong Diggers marketing manager Ms Kim Cole said: "Over the past years Tempo Terrific Band has provided musical services and entertainment across the Central Coast, at community events, festivals and charity fund raisers.

"The 30-member band has players ranging in age from an 11-year-old trombone player to a 94-year-old clarinet player.

"Members enjoy friendship in music as well as the opportunity to give back to their local community by supporting events and playing music to lift the spirits of both their own musicians and members of the audience alike.

"Popular favourites include the Lion King, West Side Story and the marches of John Williams."
