Call to maintain covid and flu vigilance

The chief executive of a Umina aged care facility is urging to maintain vigilance with covid and influenza.

"As we approach the cooler months, it is a good time to start thinking about flu shots and covid-19 boosters," said Peninsula Villages chief executive Mr Colin Osborne.

"For residents, this means notifying staff if you develop any or cold or flu symptoms, staying up-to-date with vaccinations and wearing masks outside of the facility, when and where possible and appropriate.

"We recognise that receiving visitors is essential for our residents' wellbeing, but to maintain their safety, visits should be conducted in a manner that minimises the risk of introducing and spreading covid-19.

"We ask all visitors to take a RAT test prior to entrance and to wear a face mask.

"For staff, we conduct regular RAT tests, mandate mask wearing and vaccinations, and encourage meal breaks to be taken in ventilated or outdoor areas."
