Locally-made movie preview held at Ettalong

The upstairs bar at Cinema Paradiso in Ettalong was packed to the gunwales last Tuesday night for a preview of the locally-made movie Get Free.

The invitees were predominantly cast and crew, who crowded into Cinema Two where every opening credit was cheered loudly before settling down to watch the film.

Produced by local company AAGilesberg Pty Ltd, the movie contains segments filmed in locations easily recognisable to Peninsula residents such as Bullion St carpark in Umina.

Screenwriter Mr Craig Giles said the story was about women's empowerment.

"Each year, 1.2 million women and children will be taken.

"There are over 20 ways these victims become enslaved.

"This fictional dramatic film is about young women and children who fight back.

"They fight for the basic human right of freedom for all."

The film will have its world premiere at the Julien Dubuque Film Festival in the United States at the end of April 2023.
