Reid welcomes medals for Vietnam veterans

Member for Robertson Dr Gordon Reid has welcomed the production of a 50th anniversary Commemorative Medallion and Certificate of Commemoration for our Vietnam veterans and their families.

"I welcome the announcement", Dr Reid said.

"We owe our serving and former defence personnel a high level of gratitude and respect for the sacrifices they made for our nation's peace and security," Dr Reid said.

"Australia can never repay the debt we owe to the 60,000 Australians who served in Vietnam, this medallion and certificate are a small but meaningful way to honour their service and to recognise the sacrifice of those who never returned home."

Dr Reid has encouraged Vietnam veterans or their families to visit the Department of Veterans' Affairs' website to complete an application for a medallion and certificate.
